Senator Sarah Hanson Young

Has anyone heard Sarah saying anything about these very young children in South Australia supposed being looked after by THE STATE GOVERNENT in care but some low life bloke has sexually interfered with some of these children???

OH no she only bellows when something is done to the back door invaders and their children,OUR Aussie children don't mean a thing to her,I thought being a senator for South Australia she may have opened her mouth like senator Nick does

It is sad that our greedy avaricious solicitors are so desparate to keep their trade going that they advise those poor people of things that are not in their best interest - surely there should be a law against that.

There is a proper channel for doing things - these boat people could have gone to the Australian Consulate in India for assistance.

"Immigration Minister Scott Morrison told The Weekend Australian last night: “Those who have been transferred to Nauru will now likely never go back to India and will certainly never be resettled in Australia. Should they be found to be a refugee, they will be resettled on Nauru, not Australia. If they are not found to be a refugee, they will go back to Sri Lanka, not India."

What does "resettled on Nauru" mean? Permanent detention? or permanent Australian welfare? Unemployment is estimated to be 90% in Nauru. The country is heavily reliant on foreign aid for economic survival. Only Naruans can own land and property. Wouldn't it be better to resettle those found to be genuine refugees here in Oz where they have an opportunity to find work, rebuild their lives and contribute financially and socially to our country?

No they can always ask to be be resettled back in Sri Lanka at any time .

May even get 5000 each ...which will pay off their debt to the people smugglers...

Once we let these people in the floodgates will open again.

Only if Labor/Greens get back in which I can't imagine will be in my lifetime .

Interesting to get no response to my previous comment. So I will repeat it to see if anyone can rationalise why it is better to resettle people on Nauru at Australian tax payer expense than here in Oz where they can contribute to our society.

I will repeat my response to you .

No these people can ask at any time to be repatriated back to Sri Lanka . They may even get 5,000 grand to pay off their debt to the people smugglers .

Sorry Pete, your response wasn't up when I repeated the above. Should have refreshed the thread first.

The pertinent words are: "Should they be found to be a refugee, they will be resettled on Nauru, not Australia".

You haven't answered my question as to why that would be a better solution. It makes no sense financially, will still cost Australian tax payers to provide for them for the rest of their lives because there is no work for them there. Better if they are here with the opportunity to provide for themselves and contributing as tax payers. It seems like a move motivated by nothing more than spite and punishment. Remember we are discussing those who are found to be genuine refugees.

What surprises me most is this new found compassion for those who lost their lives in a plane crash but no such compassion for those genuine refugees fleeing for their lives.

Can't be refugees they came from a third country where they were safe.

No new found compassion for fellow Australians that were killed by terrorists .

Yes well Pete's "compassion" is most definitely politically motivated.  He had nothing of real substance to say on Geo's "Value of human life" thread.

You of course may have been speaking about Abbott? Also seemingly led by politically motivated compassion.
