Hockey tells NZ, Oz economy great + no budget crisis

Last night in a NZ tv interview Joe Hockey confessed to there being no budget crisis or a weak Australia economy. Instead he emphasized the strenght of the Oz economy. He said his measures as treasurer were taken with a view to the future, not in response to the current economic situation!

In his recently realeased official biography Joe Hockey states he would have like a tougher budget but Abbot advised against!

Bill Shorten has now come out to say Joe Hockey is an entitled rich man who has always had everything his own way and thus cannot feel any charity for average and poor Australians.

Joe Hockey is the man caught smiling, laughing and dancing with his millionaire wife to the song, The Eest Day of My Life in his office just before he delivered his budget. His wife wore a new dress costing almost $800 to celebrate her husband‘s triumph.

Before the Budget was delivered Joe Hockey and Matthias Cormann were spotted sitting relaxed and happy outside Parliament House, chatting and laughing while smoking expensive cigars.

More shocks have emerged from the government, including this weekend. All unemployed, it emerged today, up to age 49 must work for the dole. At the moment those up to age 30 must work 6 months to then get 6 months Newstart. Working 12 months to mly get the dole for 6 months a year!

This weekend a young homeless couple and their dog, living in their car near Ballarat, were found dead from accidental gassing from the bvane heater they were using in their car to stay warm overnight.

At the moment the LNP government have under consideration the McClure report which they indicate they would strongly like to implement asap. Report only open to public consideration for 6 weeks! There will only be four classes of welfare payments. Anyone of aged pension will only get this pension, ie no other such as dsp. The DSP will only be available to those deemed permanently disabled, no criteria defined yet. But plenty won‘t meet this criteria, as the government has pointed out, such as the mentally, and other profound disabities of all kinds. In the UK the Conservative govt outsourced to private sector dsp assessment and many disabled were thrown of their pensions. There have been deaths from illness exacerabation and suides. Many dsp pensioners will be forced onto a working age payment which will have two or three tiers, including Newstart. They are looking to raise the age at which Youth Allowance can be had also.

4 area of welfare will be family payments which have been slashed also.

Pensioner educational supplement will cease as of 1 Jan 2015. Ausstudy recipients will no longer receive Austudy in their summer break. How will the ones without rich or supportive parents pay their rent?

Crazy neverending unnecessary cruel and punishing cuts. And Hockey and Abbott have said they will bypass the Senate to get their cuts through.

An article in Fairfax newspapers said no reputable Australian or international economist has been found who believes there is a budget crisis. In fact, the manufacturing of an Australian budget crisis has been met with incredulity and ridicule overseas.

I saw that article and laughed. Obviously we are all very stupid and will believe anything including lies.

what about Shorten he has done very well for himself by whom he married, but Shorten  says you can't have anything like I got

jessel

Its about the lie regarding the state of our economy . BS for us and the truth for the world . We are considered mushrooms .

So right Pete.

errrm , what happened to the budget crisis  ?

Oh , I spose it sorta just disappeared - well for New zealanders anyway. Wonder if it is still a crisis in Aus.

Sounds like "Operation all depends where you are"

The budget is in structural deficit yes we can handle it and are paying a billion a month in interest but we need to fix it for the future . As Joe said..

Treasurer Joe Hockey admits to a New Zealand audience there never was any Australian budget emergency, yet the ABC don't think it's newsworthy. Managing editor David Donovan reports.

DO YOU REMEMBER the "budget emergency"? Also sometimes known as the "debt crisis" and "debt and deficit disaster"?

You may have heard Tony Abbott use that last one ten times in a single five minute reply in Parliamentary question time. It has been used relentlessly by the Government, from PM, to Treasurer, to even the lowliest backbencher, to justify a Budget of savage spending cuts — largely directed at low-income, disadvantaged Australians.

Well, funny thing about that — turns out the budget emergency doesn't exist.

The budget emergency was that left unchecked with labora spending commitments, the country would have been bankrupt in 20 years

I really don't see what is difficult to understand after eleven years of budget surpluses under the coalition we had six years of deficit under labor . Even with the new budget with its continued rise in every area but reigning in of future rises it will take until 2018 to move into surplus and then start to pay down our debt .

o restore some balance to proposed budget savings, to share the burden of budget repair more fairly and in answer to the challenge, well, what would youdo? Keating suggests savings on the revenue side that would raise about $42 billion a year in 2017-18, the year most of Hockey's savings would cut in.

One objectionable feature of the budget was the way it laid into spending on the age pension while not merely ignoring the equally expensive superannuation tax concessions but actually reversing some of Labor's timid attempt to make aged-income support fairer. Keating estimates a more balanced approach to tax concessions could save $15.5 billion a year.

To extend the "end of entitlement" beyond welfare recipients to business welfare, he suggests ending the fuel excise rebate for miners and farmers, saving $7.5 billion a year. There's no economic justification for subsidising just one input among many of just two industries among many.

Abolishing the subsidy for private health insurance would save more than $7 billion a year. Many evaluations have shown this money would treat a greater number of patients if spent in public hospitals. Removing the 50 per cent discount on capital gains tax would save $5 billion a year, as well as making the taxation of various sources of income a lot fairer.

About $5.5 billion a year could be saved by restoring the carbon price mechanism and the minerals resource rent tax. That leaves $1.5 billion to be saved by restoring anti-avoidance measures implemented by Labor, Keating says.

We could get the budget back in the black without any loss of economic efficiency and do it in a way much fairer to ordinary voters – remember them? – and less partial to the Coalition's big business backers.

That is good economic strategy.

Deaigned to move the nation away from govt pension to full or part self funding.

Don't knock Everything for the sake of it

Hockey says if the Budget is not passed Australia will risk losing its triple A rating. In this same week Standard and Poors, one of the major international ratings agencies, say they are satified with Australia‘s financial health and Australia is in no danger of losing its triple A rating!

Hockey has informed Parliament if the Budget is not passed he will roll it all in with the supply bills, an effort to force the Senate‘s hand as the tradition is the supply bills are always passed.

Today Hockey told Australians to take a chill pill in regard to opposition to budget measures.
