Royal commission into HSU to resume

The Royal Commission has just released a notice announcing that its hearings into the HSU will resume Wednesday 10AM in Sydney and Kathy Jackson will be in the witness box.

That is great news for anyone interested in rooting out corruption within the union movement - and very bad news for those who have tried to besmirch Kathy Jackson's reputation.

I reiterate that everything Jackson did in her role as Secretary of her branch in relation to its own slush funds was done at the direction of a Branch Committee of Management - 14 rank and file health workers. None of it was done corruptly - I don't like the way unions operated then or now but that's the way unions operated and Jackson operated hers within the law and the Labor movement.

There are those who are in thrall to Williamson, Shorten, Conroy et al and who seek to slander or diminish Jackson's reputation and credit as a witness. I reiterate my usual declaration here, Kathy Jackson is a very close friend and I value my friendship with her. You can use your own judgement to weigh up the facts here - for me the facts are these:

Kathy Jackson blew the whistle on Michael Williamson, Craig Thomson and Bill Shorten.
They are trying to make her pay for it.
She called for a Royal Commission - they tried to stop it.
She is telling the truth - Williamson, Thomson and Shorten want the truth hidden.
Well the truth is coming like a steam train Bill.

I hope she has good security measures in place as some would stop at nothing to stop the truth coming out.

"Bill Shorten should hang his head in shame, but of course he won't, this bloke has no moral conscience.
Bill Shorten was a young man that I nurtured, indeed I became his mentor in terms of providing Bill with an opportunity to have a career in the union.
I blame myself as much as anyone for allowing people like Shorten to infiltrate the AWU. Bill never came from the true blue working class, he was a uni student and a career political public servant, similar to Rudd in the Goss Government.
Bill Shorten was my campaign manager when I opposed and campaigned against Wilson and Gillard for fraud. For the record Bill Shorten, Chris Hayse, Conroy, Roxon,Swan, Feeney, Ludwig,Howes and others knew full well about the fraud perpetrated by Gillard and Wilson in what is now known as the AWU scandal.
Shorten said to me when I asked him for his support after Wilson and Gillard were exposed for ripping off hundreds of thousands of dollars from the AWU, "Bob think of your future, Wilson has gone, everyone else is moving on, BULTISH, BULTISH.
Not long after I received death threats, bullets in my mail box, bullied out of my office, and badly assulted. I am wondering Bill, will this legislation be retrospective?, Only asking.....

In 'The Australian' this morning Graham Richardson is again at pains to denounce my contribution to the Gillard debate as "just part of the lunatic fringe". "No more than a few hundred people see that stuff", he said on Sky. Well, Richo, if that's the case, why bother with the continued attack?
And why are Gillard and Summers still expressing "murderous rage"?
Here's why Richo: The "lunatic fringe" that read my stuff are far greater in number than those who read yours.
My Facebook page has between 100,000 and 200,000 readers per week and Pickering Post has between 80,000 and 100,000, with up to 2,000 comments on each article. Emails go to a further 10,000 recipients and all three mediums go viral.
There is no way to quantify that readership but a conservative guess would be somewhere between 600,000 and 800,000.
It seems that somewhere out there in reader land there are quite a few lunatic fringe dwellers who were determined to hand Richo's Labor Party its worst drubbing in history.

I was a long suffering member of HSU for 13 years. We the Allied Health professionals were sold to HSU from PSA like cows. In the early years my entire involvement was in the structure design of the new Award - first change for >40 years and much needed reform actually commenced by the PSA.

When I started paying attention to the wider Union, I noted there had been no election, ever, in my time there. The wider picture of the Williamson Tsardom had began to reveal itself. He had it so tied up, with every organiser directly owing him their job by being on his ticket. The organisers said black was white (and badly betrayed their members they allegedly represented) and active steps were taken to prohibit contact with other branches to hinder any foment of rebellion. Many old members and local delegates liked their Union sweeteners too. There is every chance he would have remained despite strongly growing unrest (especially among AH) if it was not for Kathy Jackson. Michael should have got bigger jail time as far as I'm concerned.

However, the real purpose of the enquiry is to put shit on Labor, I am not convinced it will serve a wider purpose other than factional retribution and Liberal satisfaction at waving dirty laundry. Labor's real issue is to shake the yoke of Union dominance of Caucus and their pronounced over representation both in caucus and as candidates for elections. What happened in WA with election of Jo Bullock and loss of Louise Pratt is just the pits. We shudda got 2 in, Bullock a grubby old Union hack should never have been a candidate for anything.

Unless Shorten can find some backbone, and I can't see that and think he's the wrong person to lead, then there is serious risk of losing to a bunch that's hated by more than half the country and remaining in opposition for ever till radical reform happens.

Something fishy here - since when has michael smith been a friend of a unionist or is he playing games to get at Bill Shorten.

I would not trust M Smith as far as I could kick him

I know nothing personally about M Smith.   All I do know is that he tried to resurrect the AWU affair and Julia Gillard had him sacked from his job because he was trying to do so.

Mike Smith won the case against Fairfax for him speaking the truth about Gillard.

He still speaks the truth as below

Radio presenter Michael Smith dumped after comments about the Prophet Mohammed

Sydney talkback radio host Michael Smith has been told he will no longer be filling in on 2GB after making controversial comments about the Prophet Mohammed.

The former 2UE presenter made the comments on Thursday during his regular guest spot with 2GB host Ben Fordham.

Smith was discussing the recent controversy over a talk the Festival of Dangerous Ideas had booked- and later cancelled - with a Muslim activist, titled Honour Killings Are Morally Justified.

He compared the festival's invitation to Uthman Badar to asking the leader of the Ku Klux Klan to speak.

Smith said the founder of Islam was "a man who promoted the idea that it was OK to marry a six-year-old and consummate the marriage when the little girl was nine".

The broadcaster had been due to fill in for afternoons presenter, Chris Smith, from Monday for three weeks.

On Saturday he wrote on his website that 2GB program director David Kidd had called and cancelled the booking, telling him he could not "call a deity a paedophile".

We asked what you think of 2GB's decision to cancel Michael Smith and this is what you said.

Smith pointed out that he had made similar comments on 2UE in 2011, and had been acquitted of a complaint of inciting hatred and of factual inaccuracy by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

Mr Smith said on his website he stood by his comments.

Smith got sacked for not following orders and protocol from his station . Does anyone advocate a radio jock should be free to air his views if the company that pays him say desist because we will face defamation and subsequent financial penalty ? Smith is a hack and associates with self confessed crims and fraudsters like Pickering . Picking the fraudster Blewitt the self confessed crim . Birds of a feather come to mind .

Well as a defender of the corrupt you would say that would t you .
