Entitlements regarding relocatable homes

Hi there; I'm currently on a disability support pension and I'm considering buying relocatable home.

At present I live in a caravan park renting a relocatable home and recieve rent assistance.  If I manage to get a loan and buy such a home to live in on a similar type of property, am I entitled to any Centrelink payments in place of rental assistance that I currently recieve.

All responces to this message is greatly appreciated.

I really can't tell you, best to ring or see Centrelink

Why would you put yourself into debt and loose the rental assistance. keep renting its cheaper . And use the money for the deposit on a cruise. ...

I can see why security of ownership is important but as PlanB says best to talk to Centrelink and even make an appointment with their financial adviser for free advice on what would be best for you.

Good afternoon MAjor Nelson,

I recommend you have a look at this similar Q&A we had answered on the same topic, but also, as suggested by others, you need to consult Centrelink regarding your particular circumstances.

Phyl :)

Your reply seems to have disappeared and Debbie's comment is there instead ???

I deleted mine becaue I came in, exactly the same time as Debbie and only said as most other posters " Need to contact Centrelink".

I guess all cases would be different.

Abby did you not know when we take our post out it still appears as having been put in,  on the heading,  but with no comment added.

Well that solves a mystery :)

Love your spring avatar

Major, whether you rent the relocatable or own the relocatable and rent the site, you will have an entitlement to rent assistance from Centrelink. Check out www.residentialparkliving.com.au for more info.

Hi Major Nelson,

We live in a relocatable village and own our own home and we get rent assistance for the rent we pay to the site .. if you are entitled to any form of pension, it is likely that you will also be able to receive Commonwealth rent assistance. The amount of rent assistance you can receive varies depending upon the level of rent. if you are entitled to any form of pension, it is likely that you will also be able to receive Commonwealth rent assistance.
