Vet robbery
I am bloody furious. We have had an ear problem with our 1/2 Corgi for around 8 years & have thrown away a small fortune on useless vet fees, all to no avail.
We were told 6 or so months ago, that he has a yeast infection, but there was no internal treatment.
We went to the vet, the other day & were charged more than a doctor for the visit. I was given 7 Nizoral 200 Mg tablets & charged $38.00 for them. These tablets have been around for years & used to treat humans. I have been to a chemist friend, who advises me that the tablets are covered by PBS & cost $5.30. However, if you have not got a Health benefit card, they will cost you $15.50 for a card of 10. The $15.50 charge allows a profit, to the chemist, of around 30%, which means they cost the chemist, or vet, around $10.50, or $1.05 per tablet. The vet is charging $5.43 per tablet !!!!
There has got to be a way to stop thit rip off.
hi innes, about 4yrs ago i had a german shepherd who constantly had ear trouble which was costing us a small fortune with vet visits so my husband who was very sick and knew before long i would be on my own suggested i get her ears operated on to stop the problem and so save me money after he passed away, well i had it done for the grand total of $780 !!! did it stop the problem, nooo, she has since passed away too,and there was nothing i could do as the vet had said an op may not help the problem,i think i will come back as a vet,
