Red wine

Let me start by saying that I have no knowledge whatsoever re the veracity of the red wine report that I have read recently.  I fell over the discussion from one of the top red wine experts in the World.  He put forward the opinion that you are wasting money by buying expensive red wine.  He claimed that you can get an ordinary bottle of red.  Put it in a blender until the froth is 50 mil deep, then wait until the froth bubbles have dissapated then drink it & it will taste like a 4 gold star winner.  Does anybody have any knowledge of this?

Innes,

Having the taste buds of a peasant I would be the last to know as they all taste the same to me good or bad.

As I said in a previous post I was drummed out of a wine apppreciation group to muffled bottles on wine casks.

Beer, now thats a different matter.

Well Innes, this "wine expert" should be disbarred or whatever they do to wine experts - or- on the other hand he could be talking of wine made this way

..you can blend and drink this straightaway, just add a little Bex!

You have me intrigued Ken

Too bad Aldi is so far away but next time I venture that way I will buy a cheap botle of red there - they have it under $3 a bottle as Phyl says there are good specials there.

Just checked the net and found info on improving bothe white and red wine

As I said Abby, I would not know.  BUT, I just read your reference & the writer suggested exactly the same thing.  I know nothing about red wine.  I have sipped Grange on more than one occasion & I reckon that Wyndom Bin555 was better. (before Penfolds bought them out)

ABBEY,   did you see AUDI have mangos for $1 each,   needless to say, i have made a glutton of myself,

OH! Stop bragging Cats - you are as bad as Gerry with his mangos - Aldi some 25 km away for me :(

I do not like wine, but on the rare occasions I do have something, I like Advocaat either Cherry or Ordinary, or Bacardi and coke.

BROWN bro,   HAVE A nice one called SIENNA,    i dont drink wine myself usually, but my D,I,L, likes this one, and i occasionally have a small glass with her,   about $15 a bottle ,so not a bad price,  NOW,   BAILEYS,    thats another matter ,,yum,

I forgot the "Irish Cream" Cats. I like that also.

and Crème de menthe.

If at a function I prefer red wine because it does not seem so dry as white wine and is supposed to be better for you. Have no idea or appreciation for wine and its qualities except that a rough red is rough and undrinkable and grappa is potent.

The Unexpected Way Red Wine And Dark Chocolate Impact Memory
The Huffington Post | By Shelley Emling

Resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red wine and dark chocolate, has long been associated with the prevention of heart disease and other health benefits.

Now a new study published in the Journal of Neuroscience has found that the substance may also be celebrated as a way to boost memory.

GOOD a reason as any to get on it pete,   but red wine gives me blinding headaches,  so i dont drink it,  and dont like dark chocolate,          YA PHIL,    baileys is good,  as is creme de menthe,    a little bit of anything is good for you,

Cats try organic red wine .  No preservatives .

And red Grapes the skins have resevatrol. And try different dark chocalates and drink cocoa .

And maybe Phyll can put us onto resevatrol . We only have to get through the next twenty years then they will cure death . C

excuse my ignorance pete, but what is resevatrol?    dont fancy organic wine , and do eat grapes by the bagful,  i love them,   and i drink cocoa and hot chocolate, have no problems with them,   just red wine,   MAYBE ITS THE QUANTITY I DRINK,LOL LOL,     much prefer a gin and tonic, or a good brandy,   ya if we do the next few years they will find a cure,   trouble is,  will we be capable of enjoying them,   not much good if the body is buggered,  lol lol,    just make the most of what we have now,     drink and be merry,

Google resevatrol Cats  very important .  Plus low calorie diet . Organic wine great same as normal but no bad stuff ...Great you eat grapes make sure they are red .Great you eat cocoa make sure it is pure and at least 70 per cent curaçao .,

Cats you should also look into Q10 and low dose asprin ...

And Australian Green tea . Cc

If you are going to eat meat ., make sure it is grass fed and grill ...
