Department of Human Services spends $500k on legal fees to fight $6k child support dispute

"The Department of Human Services has spent more than half-a-million dollars of taxpayers' money in legal fees fighting a child support dispute over $6000.

Independent Senator Nick Xenophon says the case is a "scandalous waste of taxpayers' money … to protect the butt of the department".

Now the department, which runs the Child Support Agency and Centrelink, has hired more high-end lawyers to try to block the release of information on its own conduct in the matter, exposing taxpayers to up to a million dollars in legal and other costs."

Hope Senator Nick Xenophon keeps going after them in the coming New Year

Yep so do I that 75% pay increase that Jacqui Lambe let out was the last straw for me and many others I am sure. Not found one person who thinks they deserved it.

No one ever, except for Ted Mack, did object to extra pay or perks did they. He got their super down from 69% of their annual salary to same as workers,9% but it has creptup to 16% now but workers hasnt. Again. Do a petition on www.change.org and I reckon it could top the lot!  And they dont go to Centrelink.

Also dont know anyone who thinks exPMs should be paid for rest of life either. Indexed too I bet. They have their super and shouldnt be able to get it any earlier as already said. Again Petition. Only way for people power.  Or facebook saw one girl who had put up something on there and it got huge support and got done.
