Charlie - not quite so much solidarity with the public as a photo op

The photo shots of leaders marching in solidarity with the multitude of Paris marchers were just that, photo ops.

There is also a video on the page showing the Israel PM waving to a non existent crowd and how the public saw what appeared to be the leaders being one with the mass march. Security I can understand but not false presentation. Leaders and their retinues are not the mass marchers who had no photo ops in mind. They could have or should have said they were marching in spirit with the marchers.

Photos/pics. of days gone by, were originals.

Today, some people are beyond clever with what they can do on a computer.

SO much is  "not as it appears"

What was the message behind it all...?

I think it is perfectly reasonable to have a gap of security between and the world leaders the throngs of other marchers. I saw similar shots that were live on TV.

If this were not so they could have easily been a target that would have got a lot of attention which is what ISIS or Daesh as they now call them wants.

Abby

I think security precautions are reasonable as well. What is not reasonable is portraying a scene that did not happen.

Geoff :)

I watched it live on TV and I believe I did see it happen... and do not think the above pix has been fudged.

To my understanding some are trying to portray the large gap between the Annointed ones and the commoners so large that they were not in the same march.

I tend to go along with this comment.

But amid all the criticism, student Axel Fougner effectively represented the views of many on social media by writing today: “Hypocritical world leaders showing up in Paris does not in any way reduce the sincerity of the millions who marched for #jesuischarlie.”

I can't make comment about the above photograph.  However, if the gap was for security reasons, it makes sense ... for both the annointed ones and the general public.

As for media photographs, it is often wise to suspend belief.  Photographs can be cropped to produce an entirely different message, often diametrically opposite to what is occurring; photographs can be choreographed and  ... when none are available, photographs can be used from the morgue.  The latter can be a photograph which has no relevance to time, place or incident.

Reuters have had to apologise for unknowingly using photographs that have been photoshoped.

Someone has sent me an email "purportedly" being an interview with our previous Immigration Minister Scott Morrison with Al Jazeera.

I read the interview and immediately thought "this is not Scott Morrison at all"!

Decided to do my own search online and found out the interview was with a Jason Morrison who is an Australian journalist.

So if anyone else gets this email remember it is not Scott Morrison.

It is an interesting interview and I agree with what Jason Morrison has said.

Never believe all things that are sent to you by email ;)

Radish,

I looked on the site you provided ... and

Hopefully this sort of behaviour will not happen here.

But it was this email that opened my eyes.

When I was in Malaya many years ago, the Muslims were as devout as any today.  They prayed twice a day.  Women wore tight fitting sarongs and diaphonous  form- fitting kabayas, full makeup,  their hair loose, adorned with a  small piece of lace.  They delighted in being women.  Men and women danced together, ronging. Islam was gentle and benign.  But, recently, I saw a video of a woman in Islamic attire being publicly lashed for drinking a glass of beer.  So very far from the Islam I knew.

About a year ago there was great consternation in Indonesia about permitting the performance of an American female singer.  An Indonesian wrote to the press condemning the "Islam of Ryadah" which some teachers were importing from the Middle East.  The writer called this an "unculture."  This demonstrates the distinct and often confounding branches of Islam.

If Christianity - somewhere - were to revert to the middle ages with the burning of people alive, inquisitions, and witch-hunts now seen comparably in the medieval Islam of the Middle East, imagine the scream, outrage and condemnation  that would occur - and rightly so.

Whilst we respect all religions, and the right of people to practice them, we cannot condone silently the most appalling human rights abuses. The PC crowd have a lot to answer for.  PC is the lowest form of moral cowardice.

An Islamic scholar believed that if the West expressed disapproval of what his people were enduring, then Islam would change accordingly.  He observed that it was the high priests of political correctness, who willingly supported  the Islamists, thus giving tacit approval of the horrors endured by Muslims of the Middle East, condemned them to this life ... In this way, he also saw the attitude that the West yet again, saw then as "the white man's burden."

That video has been around for a long time.

After watching that moronic useless demonstration of islamic thinking in the destruction of a Judeo/Christian cemetery by the brain dead , the only ones shown in the light as committing an act of futility is the active idiots.

March 2nd 2012 Seth, the vid. Libya uprising ? The so called arab spring. Arab against Arab which does not convert to the Charlie march or the deaths at Charlie.

Gaddafi my memory is not too good with him,I know at the time he was shot dead hiding,  I had a feeling he had been let down by the so called west, I think he was responsible for holding back the push of Islam in that area.

Oct 2011 Seth, Gaddafi shot. Had to look it up as I did not know when either. A lot has happened since the invasion of Iraq.

geo, it's slowly coming back re gaddafi, I found it strange for the turn onto him by the americans and finally killing him as I thought gaddafi {No angel} kept the peace and I think it was the 'Sunnis' in the swamps, he was also paying the tribes [who usually were the ones who destroyed the pipeline] to guard them against sabotage. Brilliant. 'now after Gaddafi , bedlam.

Geoff, yes your picture makes sense, a lot of photo doctoring went on. I also read that the French president did not want Netanyahu to attend but he blatantly ignored the requests for him not to. Read here and pay special attention to the look on the face of Hollande as he sat next to Netanyahu!

Thanks for link Micha.

There will never be peace in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran etc...too many tribes and clans who have been fighting each other for centuries.

Have come to the conclusion that the western countries are wasting time, money and men in going there to fight and supposedly bring democracy.  They just dont want western democracy.  Look at the problem we have in this country with some people who want to live back in the 13th century!

The whole idea is not to bring them western democracy, but to prevent them spreading their "philosophy" to other countries.
