The Harmer Report at last

I can't give you the link - not clever enough to do that. However, if you type in "The Pension Review Report" you will find it in PDF format. I have saved it, so that I can really study it. There are nearly 200 pages.

Thanks for that Pommy. I have only read the summary pages so far. It is going to take a little while to read the whole report & cogitate on the meanings.

BUT, I must comment, on some thing that has been niggling my brain for a week or 2.

BigVal was raving on, a little time ago on the application of percentage rises & it didn't fully sink in. The penny has dropped. If the cost of basic food items rises X% in the appropriate period, the CPI rises that percentage. That's fair!! So the kilo of steak rises by $2, the CPI rises $2. The pensioner gets 25% of this, so that means he, or she, gets an increase of 50 cents. That means, in effect that if the blade steak cost $10 before the rise & $12 after, the pensioner can only afford to buy 87% of the kilo of steak, after his/her 25% rise. You don't need many rises to totally stop the pensioner from being able to keep up the iron intake.

Tomorrow, I am going to visit my local Member's office & request a copy of the 200 page report. With his allowance, he can afford the paper & ink
