Yes, Foxy you have to be on the alert all the time.  No one I don't know gets through my locked screen door which I do not open.

My scam radar is working well as it is always on "High" these days;  too many sods out there waiting to relieve you of your hard earned money.

Any govt agency will not send people to do that sort of thing without first informing you by mail or whatever. If the govt has something for free to assist residents and does not inform by mail nothing happens unless you yourself apply for it. Same as your bank will not ask for details via email etc. Maybe the shower heads get installed and then a signature is required to verify the fact and bank details as well. Next time you go to the bank a fee has been deducted for shower heads and installation.

 I once had a man come to the front door saying he was from my electricity supplier and money was owed to me, over charge or whatever. I said keep it and goodbye. If I need something I will source it myself and nothing is free from a door to door person. The very nature of that job requires money in some form or other.

I got new shower heads and light bulbs all for free but it is a while back and it did start off by somebody knocking on my front door.

The water people first checked the amount of water that was coming out of my shower head per minute and then replaced it with a more efficient type.

Yes, we had them come around here too. If worried you only need to ask them for identification of who they are working for.

They not only gave us shower heads but when the electricity guys came they gave us free energy saving  light globes.  I think at the time I got 15 free globes.

They are for free, no strings attached.

As for your showerhead most of them just screw off and you screw the new one on.

Thanks very much for all the "input" - much appreciated!  I had heard of some of these replacement showerhead schemes awhile back - but was unaware they were easy to just "refit" or screw in (as Sandi said ....)  especially when replacing older ones .....also I thought people these days had to wear those plastic "lanyard" things identifying who they were and where from etc. (these guys had nothing but the clipboard and the shower head...)

FOXY,   we got them, and free globes,  but they were through the ministry of housing,  and if i remember right, they sent a letter first,    YOU are right not to let anyone in,   never know who they are,    could rob and rape you and no one would know, just contact your water board as has been suggested,           HOW is poor puss doing,?    still going,   poor old thing, 

FOXY,   can you make him a bed under the decking,   and coax him there,   he is pnd robably scared of your cat,    not scared exactly,  but would know your cat is TOP DOG,   so to speak,    and wont upset him,   THEY know who is boss,   hes lucky to have wandered into your place,       you would have laughed the night before last,     my two big possies have been missing for a couple of nights,  have still put food out,  and gone in the morning,    then the other night i put food out,  about half hour later heard the greatest racket going on outside,   when i went out,  there were 7 babies,    all fighting to get food,    HAD to quickly go and cut up more bananas,    IN safeway i have found these containers of ;TRAIL MIX'    A MIXTURE OF NUTS AND dried fruit,   have been bying them and adding to the bananas,   THEY love them,  CHERLY  had an owl in her big tree a few nights ago,     i havent seen them,  but they are gorgeous birds,      i am going to get RUSS to take me to bunnings and get a couple of possum houses,    he says im mad,  but poor little things get soaked in this rain,
