Good bye, Seniors Party
On Monday last I wrote to all of our members (292) the following:
MY NEW LIFE |
On Wednesday the 25th of February last I started to experience some small stomach aches. This continued all throughout Thursday and Friday and by Saturday evening the pain was completely unbereable, so I took myself to my local hospital. |
There they eventually diagnosed me with having a burst appendix and I was operated as a matter of urgency early on Sunday morning. The whole of the stomach was in such a state that doctors told me had I decided to go there on the Sunday I could have been dead. I left hospital on Friday and I am gradually recuperating at home. |
This made me re evaluate my life completely due to the very dangerous illness I have just experienced. |
I was completely certain I was 100% OK and this is how it was going to continue: WRONG, I am very overweight (by 50 kgs), my sugar levels are all over the place (currently 12.4, but they have gone down from 15.1 a couple of days ago), have no energy whatsoever and I do not exercise at all (must do a minimum of 20 mins per day). |
Currently my main concern is The Seniors Party. This, for some unknown reason leaves me with no time to do anything else, such as hobbies, personal courses I would like to undertake, etc. |
What I am proposing is to seek a new group of volunteers that are prepared to undetake the task of taking this Party to the next level and replace me: is there anybody, are you prepared to commit yourself to work hard to take it to success? Answers to www.seniorsparty.org , please. |
I will step down from this position on Friday 6th of March, 2015 |
Guys, as you know by now (I hope) Iworked hard on this: from zero members to 291 (as at today). |
I know I have had my rumbles in the past about leaving, but this one is final: it has to happen. |
On a personal note you have no idea how proud I feel with the trust you bested upon me, this is what has kept me going all this time. |
I hope there are people out there prepared to put their name down for some the positions needed to continue operating this Party successfully. |
Regards, |
Henry |
Leader (come on. Let me say it for the last time) |

Sorry to hear of the health problems Henry but you do have to put your wellbeing in front of all else.
You have been inspiring with your continuing efforts to help seniors and it will be difficult to find someone with the same enthusiasm as you have displayed.
But as we get older sometimes we have to adjust our priorities, especially where our health is concerned.
I say to you "Thanks for trying."
