Canada has 10 provinces and three territories and is the second largest country in the world. For this reason it is often best to concentrate on one province or region, unless of course you have a LOT of time and wish to tackle the whole continent by travelling west to east on Via Rail… but more about that later.

Getting around

Bus
Acadian Bus Lines and Coach Canada both offer discounts to those over 60 with proof of age.

Train
VIA Rail Canada offers those aged 60 and over a year round saving in economy class.

Self-drive
Avis is delighted to offer YOURLifeChoices discounted rates, simply include the Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number P725600 in your reservation to receive YOURLifeChoices rates when you book online or call 136 333.

Accommodation

Hotels – chains
Just to name a few of many, check out these bonza discounts for CARP members:
Wingate by Wyndham – up to 20%
Lakeway Resort & Spa – up to 15%
Prince of Wales – up to 10%

Bed & Breakfasts
For cosy, comfy, home-away-from-home accommodation, visit www.bbcanada.com.

Hostels
To save a bob or two, share a kitchen, bathroom and stories with other travellers, give hostels a go by visiting www.hihostels.ca.

Groups

Local seniors groups
Canada has a very active seniors association called CARP (Canadian Association of Retired Persons). Australians can join for CAD$19.95 by visiting www.carp.ca. While you’re there, take a peek at the amazing discounts offered to CARP members when staying with affiliated major hotel chains.

The Canadian Government also has a terrific seniors website with handy information on travel, weather, cultural attractions and much more.

Insurance

Travel insurance
Travel insurance can provide extra peace of mind when travelling overseas. But the older one gets, the harder it is to find acceptable and affordable cover. YOURLifeChoices is happy to recommend Worldcare as a comprehensive, cost-effective insurance option.
