It’s a real treat to spend time in a premium airport lounge prior to take-off, and one thing many people don’t realise it that you don’t have to be a member of any airline ‘club’ to gain access to this little slice of heaven.
Airport lounges are a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of terminals. Once inside a lounge, you can eat and drink as much as you want from the buffets, bars and fridges provided, or you can have a shower in between flights, or simply enjoy the relaxing atmosphere inside.
For as little as $40, you can access an airport lounge. Most airports have generic lounges that are open to the public, others are ‘branded’ but no less accessible. Some, though, may require you to be member, but remember that membership has its privileges.
LoungeBuddy is a great resource for finding accessible airport lounges around the world. Use it to search for an airport, then select a lounge you like and simply pay for access.
There’s also another resource called Priority Pass, which provides access to more than 1200 lounges around the world. You can pick up an annual pass from around $130 a year or purchase individual passes for about $35.
Travellers don’t have to fly first class to feel like a VIP, and these two resources can really make your trip special, your connection more comfortable or give you refuge while waiting for a delayed or cancelled flight.
Have you used an airport lounge before? Which one? Can you recommend any specific lounges to our members?
