Carbon Tax Calculators

Whether we like it or not, the Carbon Tax is here. And many people are now asking how it will affect them and their families. Most of the anecdotal evidence suggests doom and gloom. However, the Government is saying that the Household Assistance Package will help 9 out of 10 Australian households. This will be done through tax cuts and increases to Government allowances and pensions.

The best way to calculate the impact on your finances is to use the Household Assistance Estimator on the Clean Energy Future website.

This estimator is easy to use and takes between 5-15 minutes to complete. It asks some general questions about your annual income, your currently levels of Government assistance and what your living situation is; are you in a relationship, do you have dependent children, etc.

Once you have answered these questions, the estimator gives you the “average price impact” less the total annual Government assistance.

Using this estimator should give you a much clearer picture of what the Carbon Tax means to you.

If you are particularly interested in carbon, you should try the Carbon Calculator on the Carbon Neutral website. This gives you a good understanding of your “carbon footprint”.
