Bonnie Prince George kills republic

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are visiting Australia this week with their son Prince George, and a polling has shown that desire to get rid of the royals is the lowest it has been in 35 years.

The poll shows that 51 per cent of Australians do not want to become a republic. William, Kate and George’s popularity is thought to be responsible, and young Prince George has been dubbed ‘the Republican Slayer’ on Australian television.

In 1999 58 per cent of Australians were in favour of a republic, but that number has now dropped to only 42 per cent.

What do you think? Is this just a case of rose coloured glasses over the likeable Duchess and cute Prince George, the two new members of the royal family? Or are Australians embracing a return to more traditional values?
