Older workers and productivity, Part One

A recent report in the Harvard Business Review, reprinted in Australia in Boss magazine, confirms that older workers can achieve the same productivity levels as their younger colleagues – they just need to be given the opportunity. A pilot project using BMW workers in Dingolfing, Lower Bavaria, created a year-2017 demographic mix and managed health care, training, processes and time policies to see if productivity could be maintained by working smarter rather than “younger” or harder. It could. What’s more, absenteeism dropped to 2% – below the plant’s average. Read how this was achieved.
