If, like many television viewers, commercials already drive you crazy, how would you cope with another five minutes of ads per hour?
According to The Australian, Channel Seven and Channel Nine are asking the government to enable them to run 20 minutes of ads per hour. Currently, networks can’t run more than 15 minutes of ads per hour. However, Network Ten is strongly opposed to the proposal being discussed within the free-to-air television industry body, Free TV.
If successful, it would mean that Australia would have the highest ratio of ads to programs in any Western country.
