The ice bucket challenge

Oprah Winfrey is just one of many who has taken up the ice bucket challenge, but why would sane people be dumping buckets of freezing cold ice over themselves?

Celebrities, heads of companies and organisations and everyday people are throwing buckets of freezing cold ice over their heads to raise awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

The movement is gathering momentum on social media and the idea is that unless you dump a bucket of ice over your head, you have to donate money to charity. Those who opt to brave the bucket of ice then have to nominate three people to take up the challenge, thus making the movement go viral.

So why not get in the spirit? If you’re not quite ready to feel the icy cold on your head yourself, why not watch what happened to Oprah when she took up the challenge?
