For most of us, a trip to the supermarket is a routine part of life. We pick up our groceries, browse the aisles for dinner inspiration, and catch up with a familiar face.
It’s a mundane task, a backdrop to the everyday rhythm of our lives. We expect to find fresh produce, friendly staff, and the usual hustle and bustle. But sometimes, the ordinary can take a sudden, unexpected turn.
In a scene more befitting a Hollywood action movie than the fresh fruit aisle of a local Coles, shoppers were left stunned as a violent altercation unfolded before their eyes.
Shoppers at Carindale Westfield in Brisbane’s southeast were left stunned as a violent altercation took place on 11 March.
A disturbing video footage, which has since made its rounds on social media, captures a 14-year-old girl as she brazenly marches into the supermarket and, without hesitation, begins to assault a 15-year-old girl dressed in her school uniform.
The attacker’s closed fists repeatedly connect with the victim’s head, as onlookers watch in horror. Amidst the chaos, another girl bravely attempted to intervene, trying to halt the relentless attack.
Coles staff members, who were present then, had to step in to separate the brawling teenagers. Witnesses have reported that the victim was alone when the group suddenly ambushed her.
On 17 March, the police charged the 14-year-old attacker with assault causing bodily harm while armed and in the company of others. She is set to appear before the Brisbane Children’s Court on Friday, 9 May.
