Woman in serious condition after being hit with own car during alleged Berwick hospital carjacking

A woman is in a serious condition after being hit by her own car while allegedly trying stop a man from taking the vehicle from a hospital car park in Berwick, in Melbourne’s outer south-east.

Police have been told the 66-year-old was helping her husband move from their car to the entrance of Casey Hospital at around 10.45am on Wednesday when a man who was sitting on a nearby bench allegedly jumped into their vehicle.

The woman tried to stop the man driving away and was struck, police said.

The Upper Beaconsfield woman has been transferred to a Melbourne hospital in a critical condition.

Her condition has since been described as serious but stable.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested and will be questioned over the incident.
