Emergency mobile communication

I was wondering if there is a product that can be worn by a pensioner in & out of home for emergency calling. My father is 85 and lives alone and there are no relatives living in a close proximity. All family live in another state.

My father is 85 and lives alone and there are no relatives living in a close proximity. All family live in another state.

A. There is a system called VitalCall, that is operated by Chubb. They provide a simple to use mobile device that can be activated by pressing a large button. Once connected to a member of staff, who can access previously supplied information, they will arrange for the necessary emergency service to attend. For more information, call 1300 360 808 or visit their website by clicking the link below.

RAA in SA has a very similar system. You have a pendant and a special unit plugged into your phone. If you activate your system and do not respond at all when they call you they will send an ambulance. They will also call people that you request them to contact. You are given a form to fill out that you can state medical conditions on. If you respond you can request ambulance, police or fire brigade.
Call Direct a subsidary of SA Ambulance Service has a system which works the same way. If you are also a member of the SA Ambulance Service and they arrive before you are able to respond that you don't need it you are not charged a call out fee. Possibly the interstate Ambulance Services have a similar system. There is a another method which you can purchase the unit for that dials up contact numbers you have programmed into it and can have 000 at the end but you have to be able to tell them which service you need. I have also been advised that some of them are not reliable. Please note I didn't list any of those brands.

VitalCall has staff on call that actually attend peoples homes, depending on the situation. I know a person who actually worked them for awhile after being a voluntary Ambulance Medic and had also done nursing in a Public Hospital.
