A beloved Maltesers flavour is making a comeback—find out if it’s your favourite!

The excitement of a discontinued product making a comeback is a unique experience that stirs nostalgia, triggering a flood of memories and emotions. The revival of a long-lost favourite often feels like a second chance to relive the past.

For those with a sweet tooth and a penchant for nostalgia, your wishes have been granted. After a noticeable absence that left many Australian snack lovers with a hankering for a particular treat, a beloved Maltesers flavour is making a grand return to supermarket shelves.

It’s been a long four years since the raspberry-flavoured Maltesers disappeared from our lives, leaving a berry-shaped hole in the hearts of many. But now, the wait is over. Maltesers have announced the return of the fan-favourite Raspberry Flavour, which vanished from shelves back in 2020, much to the dismay of its fans.

The Maltesers Raspberry Flavour is expected to make a sweet comeback this February, nestled alongside the classic and original variety in stores from this month. Mars Wrigley, the confectionery giant behind the brand, has stated that this product has been one of the most-loved flavour combinations over the last eight years, and it’s easy to see why.

The Raspberry Maltesers first tantalised Australian taste buds back in 2018, and its popularity soared to such heights that petitions were created to bring the flavour to other countries.

The fervour for this fruity twist on the classic Maltesers was undeniable, and the news of its return has been met with excitement, especially on social media. Comments like ‘sounds divine’ and ‘they are back’ flood in beneath review posts.

This just shows that the return of Raspberry Maltesers is more than just a new product on the shelf—it’s a return to the joy and indulgence that so many have missed.

But the Raspberry Maltesers isn’t the only product to do a U-turn on Australian supermarket shelves. Just last year, another iconic treat that locals know and love, the Polly Waffle, made its own triumphant return—albeit with a small twist.

The iconic chocolate bar, which had disappeared from shelves for more than a decade, was brought back in a new bite-sized packet. Polly Waffle Bites had been a long time coming, with Menz Confectionary working on the product for several years.

CEO Phil Sims revealed that the company’s first plan was to replicate the original Polly Waffle chocolate bar, but it soon realised how much time and money it would take to produce that product with the same level of quality that consumers would recall. Thus, the product returned in a new shape and form, much to the delight of nostalgic snackers.

These comebacks are a testament to the power of consumer voices and the enduring love for classic flavours. Whether it’s the tangy zing of raspberry or the comforting crunch of a Polly Waffle, Australians have shown that their favourite treats are never forgotten.

So, if there’s a discontinued treat you’re yearning for, never underestimate the power of a petition or a social media campaign. Who knows, your favourite might just be the next one to make a comeback.
