There is something quietly delightful about enjoying a biscuit and a cup of tea on a cool evening. Now, thanks to a new collaboration, that simple pleasure is taking on a celestial twist—just for a limited time.
American biscuit franchise Crumbl has joined forces with singer-songwriter Benson Boone to launch a one-off flavour inspired by his dreamy hit Mystical Magical.
The pair will unveil Benson Boone’s Moonbeam Ice-Cream Cookie at all Crumbl outlets on Monday, June 23.
From stage to bakehouse
According to Crumbl’s co-founder and Chief Brand Officer, Sawyer Hemsley, the young performer was heavily involved in the kitchen.
‘Benson’s creativity, passion and musical energy made this one of the most enjoyable partnerships we’ve tackled,’ Hemsley noted.
‘We took the way his song makes you feel and turned it into something you can taste.’
Boone, a multi-instrumentalist known for acrobatic stage antics—yes, he can backflip—has quickly carved out a niche with his ethereal pop sound.
This latest venture maps his signature mood onto a dessert designed to spark a little wonder in the middle of the weekly routine.
What to expect from a Moonbeam
- Base: A chilled chocolate biscuit, gentle yet richly flavoured.
- Mix-ins: Generous pieces of classic cookies-and-cream for a familiar crunch.
- Crown: A trio of toppings—lemon, berry and marshmallow—chosen to echo the ‘moonbeam’ theme in both colour and taste.
- Finish: A white drizzle and a final sprinkle of cookies-and-cream crumbs.
The biscuit is served cold to mimic ice cream, though it retains the satisfying heft of a well-baked cookie. Crumbl describes the overall effect as ‘sweet, surreal and a little otherworldly’.
Limited-time offering
Moonbeam Ice-Cream will headline Crumbl’s rotating menu from 23 to 28 June only. In other words, it will come and go in little more than the life span of a full moon phase.
If you have children or grandchildren keen to try novelty desserts—or if you simply enjoy sampling something new yourself—mark the date.
A quick word about crumbl
Founded in 2017 in Logan, Utah, by Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley, Crumbl has grown from a single storefront to more than 1,100 sites across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Central to its appeal is a weekly menu that introduces fresh flavours every Sunday evening.
While Crumbl has not yet established shops on Australian soil, its colourful releases often set trends that flow into local cafés and bakeries.
Watching their innovations can be a useful way to spot the next big ‘flavour wave’ before it reaches our shores.
Why this collaboration matters
For those of us who came of age before social media and viral marketing, modern brand partnerships can feel like passing fads.
Yet every so often, a collaboration blends craft and creativity in a way that genuinely elevates a simple pleasure—like enjoying a biscuit with a cuppa.
Crumbl and Benson Boone’s Moonbeam Ice-Cream Cookie aims to do just that: bridge music and baking, nostalgia and novelty.
At a practical level, it also underscores a lesson familiar to many older Australians: quality ingredients, thoughtful presentation and a dash of imagination can make any treat feel special without resorting to gimmicks.
Looking ahead
Whether or not you manage to sample a Moonbeam Ice-Cream Cookie, the idea behind it—bringing a touch of magic to an everyday moment—is something we can all appreciate.
Next time you bake or buy biscuits for family and friends, perhaps experiment with an unexpected flavour or garnish.
A hint of citrus, a swirl of berry jam, or even a light marshmallow topping might be all it takes to turn afternoon tea into a talking point.
If you happen to be travelling to North America later this month, keep an eye out for Crumbl’s signature pink box.
Otherwise, consider sharing news of this limited-edition treat with younger relatives living abroad—they may enjoy the chance to taste a dessert that has critics and fans alike looking skyward.
