We think we’ve found the easiest cooked dessert in the world to make. Try the delicious banana-almond combination in Banana Doofah and if you can come up with an easier recipe, which is just as tasty, please let us know.
Ingredients (serves 2)
1/2 cup almond meal
1/2 glass water
2 large ripe bananas
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Custard to serve
Method
Peel the bananas and cut them into thirds crossways, so that you end up with six short chunks. Use a pastry brush to spread the water over the bananas. Spread the almond meal out over a plate, and roll the wet banana chunks through the almond meal. Try to completely cover each banana chunk.
Next, heat the oil in a saucepan over a medium-high heat. Add the bananas and cook for approximately four minutes, or until they are golden brown. Drain the bananas on a paper towel and serve with custard.
I cook too ripe bananas in margarine and jam of choice. I call the dessert hot bananas.
I like the sound of this! Being a coeliac, it fits, but being a diabetic, I will have to weigh it up….But, I still like the sound of it!!!
I sugggest do not cook in vegetable oil if you want tio save your health & the margerine & Jam in Stillman’s recipe sounds yuk, and most unhealthy too much sugar in the jam & too much plastic in the marg.- sorry, but this recipe made in a different oil sounds fine thanks.
I will try iit cooked in my bran oil.
I have an easier recipe….1 banana per person…leave in skin and cook on barby (or oven) until skin is black and banana is hot and soft, then make one cut in skin down length and open cut and add favourite filling e.g. cream, ice cream, rum, honey etc…..my favourite is Baileys Irish Cream, yum…serve in skin with spoon to eat…you can easily offer a different filling to each banana to make it really individual….its a great last minute dessert as it needs no prparation at all…..
I ripe Banana per person or glass per peson berries
1 small glass skim milk
1 scoop whey powder
1 teaspoon red jelly crystals
Whiz until a smoothie and get your weight to where you want it by using this for one meal a day.
oh yum ozi that sounds good, yes being a diabetic is a pain can’t have too much of anything cause of the sugar thingy.
and have to ask Phyl, what is whey powder, i’ve never heard of it, do they sell it in ozzie supermarkets?
I will just ask Miss muffet sitting on her tuffet eating her curds and *whey.
Any Health food store buby. Very healthy stuff 🙂 Whey powder is in many slimming products and a good source of protein and helps reduce appetite.
