This delicious traditional Bavarian apple cake is very easy to prepare and lovely to enjoy with a cup of tea while planning your holiday to Germany.
- 8 cups peeled chopped apples
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 eggs
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Grease a large cake tin.
Beat the eggs and vegetable oil together in a large mixing bowl until mixture is smooth. Stir in the baking soda, cinnamon, flour, salt, sugar and vanilla essence. Gently fold the apples into the mixture.
Pour into the cake tin and bake for 50 minutes or until a skewer placed in the middle of the cake comes away clean.
