Hot chocolate can sometimes be too sweet for certain palates, but this spiced version makes an interesting alternative.
Ingredients (makes two cups)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar (you can use more if you have a sweet tooth)
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup of water
2 cups of milk
Combine the sugar, cinnamon, allspice and cocoa in a pot. Over a medium heat, whisk in the water until it forms a smooth paste. Gradually add the milk, whisking continually. Simmer for a few minutes, stirring so as not to burn the milk. Serve sprinkled with grated dark chocolate for that little extra decadence.
