Toad in the Hole

Toad in the Hole is a classic British dish that we think should come back into popularity. It’s home comfort food that is tasty, easy on the wallet and will warm you up in no time.

Serves: Two

Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 pork sausages
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 115g plain flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 125ml milk
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Method

Preheat your oven to 200°C. Pour the oil into a baking dish, coating the base evenly. Place the sausages next to one another in the dish, and bake for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, eggs and milk until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Remove the sausages from the oven and pour the batter over the sausages until they are three-quarters covered. Return to the oven and bake for 35 minutes.
