Experience the magic of the fetsive season in the city with the Perth Festival of Christmas. The festival runs for six weeks and is jam-packed with an array of entertainment. You won’t want to miss out on all the fun and excitement of the Christmas season in Perth. In particular, check out the Perth City Christmas Decorations, including a 13-metre Christmas tree, magical Christmas lights and decorations all over the city, a nativity scene at Council House, Christmas projections on the GPO building, and the lighting display at the Bell Tower. 

When: 14 December–4 January

Where: Various places around the city.

Time: 6:30pm daily

For an affordable and delightful way to spend Christmas-time with the family, head on down to one of the city’s many carol events during December. 

Christmas at Channel Court Shopping Centre, Kingston – throughout December.
Singers from Sing Australia will grace frantic shoppers with Christmas Carols, to give them a well-deserved break from their shopping. 

Carols by Candlelight, 14 December 2014
Pack a picnic basket and head to St David’s Park to experience Carols by Candlelight in all its glory. You’ll need to collect your free ticket from designated areas at the event before you start warming up your singing voice.   

Myer Hobart Christmas Pageant, 15 November
This is a spectacular display of holiday cheer, where you can be more than just a spectator but part of the action. Get the whole family involved in this one.


Darwinites can make their way over to the George Brown Botanical Gardens this Christmas to take part in Carols by Candlelight. The Darwin City Brass Band will perform alongside the Darwin Youth Choir, the Kormilda College Choir and many more. The concert begins at 6.30pm, with a magnificent fireworks display to top it all off at 8.30pm.

Time: 4.30pm–9pm


Australian Capital Territory
The ACT is holding its 70th Carols by Candlelight this year, and Woden Valley Youth Choir and Spectrum Big Band invite you to share in the spirit of Christmas. Pack a picnic basket with goodies and a blanket and bring your family to join thousands of other revellers for an enthralling evening of music and festivities. Sing along to your favourite carols under the stars. There will be guests performers, and as always, a visit from the man in red himself – Santa.
