Pigs might…swim?

If swimming with dolphins isn’t your thing, perhaps you’d prefer pigs.

Forget flying, the latest place you’ll find pigs is paddling through the waters of the Bahamas.

Big Major Cay Island in the Bahamas has been given the nickname Pig Beach or Pig Island after the pigs that swim and run on the beach.

With rumours ranging from shipwrecks, to voluntary migrations and farm escapes, no one is sure how the pigs ended up on the island. One thing that’s for sure is they are as happy as pigs in … saltwater!

I grew up on New Britain, off PNG. I had a lovely pet piglet..., we, my brother and I, + dogs and Sooty (said piglet), would go to the beach and swim every day! He was a lovely little friend.

I'm going to the Bahamas in May/June 2015 for a few days only. I need to go see these piggies. Maybe a little cruise around the islands.
