You don’t have to be a topiarist or green thumb to appreciate the artistry of the living plant sculptures at the international Montreal Mosaiculture Exhibition.
Mosaiculture, as defined on the official website, is a “refined horticultural art that involves creating and mounting living artworks made primarily from plants with colourful foliage (generally annuals, and occasionally perennials)”.
Incorporating upwards of 800,000 different plants – carefully brought together to create a chameleon, a panda, an elegant lady and more – these sculptures present a challenging task for topiarists. Not only do they need to know how to match colours and plants but also how to groom each piece in order to retain its appearance.
Check out these beauties – we’d love to hear which is your favourite.
