Centrelink flood assistance

Areas of Queensland and New South Wales have been adversely affected by flooding since 27 January. There are payments available from Centrelink to help those who need it most.

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) is available to those affected by the recent flooding. The payment is $1000 for each eligible adult and $400 for each eligible child who live in the following areas:

NSW

  • Gwydir
  • Moree
  • Narrabri

Queensland

  • Balonne
  • Barcaldine
  • Blackall-Tambo
  • Maranoa
  • Murweh
  • Paroo

To be eligible for the AGDRP you must also be an Australian resident, not previously received an AGDRP for this disaster and have experienced one of the following:

  • been seriously injured
  • are an immediate family member of someone killed as a direct result of the flooding
  • your home has sustained major damage or has been destroyed
  • you have been stranded in your home, or unable to reach your home for a period of at least 24 hours
  • your home was without major services such as electricity, gas or water for a continuous period of 48 hours

If you meet the above criteria and wish to apply for an AGDRP, you should call 180 22 66 to submit your claim. Alternatively, you can click on the links below to download a claim form from Humanservices.gov.au.

Once completed and signed, you should take to your nearest Centrelink or Medicare office, or post to the relevant address below:
