Clean Energy Assistance

A guide for older Australians

Clean Energy Assistance Explained

The Clean Energy Advance will be paid between 28 May and 8 June 2012. Find out if you are eligible, how you can receive the Clean Energy Supplement and if your payment will be affected if you go overseas. Self-funded retirees may need to contact Centrelink before receiving the advance and the supplement and if you receive no financial help via the household assistance package, you may be eligible for the Low Income Supplement. Applications will also be required from those who wish to claim the Annual Essential Medical Equipment Payment.

I tried to print the 'Clean Energy Advance' page for my friends but just got a blank page. Any reason for this?

Pip - Because the page is an Adobe .PDF file, you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.
You can get the Adobe Acrobat Reader free by going to the Adobe website and downloading it.

Here is the link to the download - http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/?promoid=DINRS

This download also wants to download MacAfee Anti-Virus Scan program to your computer.
If you already have an Anti-Virus program, or don't want your computer scanned for viruses, unclick the button where it says "Yes, install McAfee Security Scan Plus".

Downloading the MacAfee scan is really only an invitation for MacAfee to sell you an AV program, so most people unclick the MacAfee download.
The Adobe Reader is a free download with no undesirable features, and it allows you to read all .PDF files.
.PDF files are very commonly used for brochures and catalogues and other info pages.

    Cheers - Ron.

Thankyou so much Ron! I will do that now.. I thought that I already have the Adobe Acrobat Reader, but I might have deleted it, and interesting about the McAfee Security because after I failed to get the Clean Energy info I found the McAfee 'you need to fix a prob etc' screen on the screen.. happens often, I just click it away.

I would like to know will the Housing department take 25% of the money from age pensioners living in department homes in NSW?
The last time we all got a lump sum they were asked not to take the 25%, all agreed but NSW said we will leave it alone for a while. This year they took their cut.

terrib, they do the same in Victoria. Always take 25% from us and every 6 months when we get the measly CPI dollars, 25% gets taken out for rent. So unfair.
