Under National Health Reforms a nationally consistent aged care system, covering basic home care through to nursing homes has been promised. This is no mean feat. The current system suffers due to certain services being provided by state governments and others by the Federal Government. This has led to a system which is difficult to understand, navigate and fund effectively.

Funding has also been secured to continue the Ambassador for Ageing program, a role currently held by Noeline Brown. $1.1 million in funding will help promote the importance of productive and healthy ageing.
