    I have been living in australia with my husband since 1974, would we be able to claim soma pension for the years that we worked there, we worked there for about 10 years

    I think the Pension people will demand that you claim the overseas pension.

    We also left the UK in 1974, but did not become eligible for a pension until until 1995. Like Boomerue, we also had worked in the UK for approximately 10 years. I think you will find that when you apply for your UK pension, that pension amount will be pegged at the rate it was when you left the UK. Our payments work out at £38.40 a week, averaging out at the current exchange rates, over a 3 month period, at $224.00 a month each. Hope this helps. Arrow
