The myths that persist

Despite dramatic improvements in the quality of hearing aids, they continue to be the subject of myths and misunderstanding.

The biggest myth – Hearing aids are large and clunky
Fact: The hearing aid has come a long way, particularly since the arrival of digital technology. Hearing aids are now so advanced that they can deliver incredible performance in a tiny package and so discreet that most people would have no idea that you were wearing it.

The 2nd biggest myth – Hearing aids are only for old people
Fact: Hearing loss is not restricted to the elderly. Our hearing begins to deteriorate once we’re in our 20s or 30s. It’s also common for people like factory and farm workers, musicians and those involved in theatre to have hearing problems at a younger age due to prolonged exposure to loud noises in their work. You might be surprised to learn that there are many people in their 40s and 50s who wear hearing aids.
