If you’re a parent, grandparent, or carer, you’ve likely come across a trusted household item that promises comfort and relief during restless nights.
It’s long been a go-to for easing sniffles and helping little ones (and not-so-little ones) breathe more easily.
But before you switch it on tonight, it may be worth taking a closer look—because a new safety alert is turning heads across Australia.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has issued a product safety warning for the Euky Bear Warm Steam Vaporiser, model number EBSV2013.
The concern? If the device isn’t switched off after the steam cycle finishes, the base of the blue heating module can overheat.
This isn’t just a case of a warm touch—the module can actually start to break down, producing smoke and potentially toxic fumes.
Even more worrying, if the heating element (referred to as the ‘heating module finger’) becomes exposed, it could cause serious burns.
This isn’t the first time the vaporiser has come under scrutiny. In 2023, four specific batches were recalled for the same overheating issue.
Now, the recall has been expanded to include all batches of the EBSV2013 model.
If you have an Euky Bear Warm Steam Vaporiser with the model number EBSV2013, the advice is clear and urgent:
- Stop using it immediately.
- Unplug it from the power point.
- Do not return it to the store.
- Dispose of it safely.
To arrange a replacement, you’ll need to contact Felton Grimwade & Bosisto’s Pty Ltd via email—[email protected], the company behind Euky Bear. They’ll guide you through the process of getting a new, safe unit.
While Australian families have trusted the Euky Bear brand for over 40 years, even the best-loved products can have faults—and it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
Product recalls can be a hassle, but they’re an important reminder to check the safety of the items we use every day.
If you have friends or family who might be affected, please pass this information on. Let’s keep our homes safe and our nights restful—minus the smoke and sizzle!
