Free yoga in Queensland

Cancer Council QLD is offering free physical and wellness activities to those affected by cancer, as well as carers and family members. Find out how you can attend, or tell a friend.

In Queensland alone, over 21,000 people are diagnosed with some form of cancer each year. As people diagnosed with cancer are living longer, the need to address quality of life and survivorship issues have become more important. For every person diagnosed with cancer there are others who are intimately involved as carers or family members, and it is for this reason that Cancer Council Queensland has developed the C-vivor program.

C-vivor is a health focussed setup where free physical and wellness activities are provided for people affected by any type of cancer, as well as for carers and family members, in a supportive and community-orientated environment.

The C-vivor activities are designed for all ages and varying levels of fitness. Such activities include yoga, walking, boxing, swimming, gardening and many more.

Commencing after Easter (week starting Monday 28 April 2014), Cancer Council Queensland will be offering free yoga classes to people located in, or visiting, Brisbane.

The yoga classes will be held on:

Mondays
4pm – 5pm
CCQ Charles Wanstall Lodge
37 Fleming Road, Herston, 4006

Thursdays
9am – 10am
CCQ Office (Ground Floor)
553 Gregory Terrace, Fortitude Valley, 4006

If you are interested in becoming involved and taking part in an activity, or if you know someone living in Queensland who may benefit from the C-vivor program, please visit the Cancer Council Queensland website or phone: 07 3634 5100.

If you would like further information on these specific yoga classes, please contact Natasha (who will be teaching both sessions) on: 0424 722 723 or visit The Healing Balm website.
