Sexy tips to spice up your 2016

It’s a new year, and for many people it’s a chance to make changes for the better. Here are 16 tips on how to breathe new life into the bedroom – or wherever else you see fit to ‘tango’!

1. Be a tease
One of the best ways to rev up your relationship is so simple it’s often overlooked. A kiss and a caress, a nibble on an earlobe and a peck on the neck will go a long way to getting you a little action.

2. Don’t be shy
Chances are, you’ve been together for years and aren’t shy of telling the other of what you like to eat for dinner or the type of wine you like to drink. So why not be brave and tell each other what you want in the bedroom? You may well find out something about your partner that flips a sexual switch.

3. Be intimate
There’s nothing wrong with sharing intimate time with your partner. Make a point of having a glass of wine with each other, cuddle each other more often and pass on nice comments when you like what they’re wearing. When you’re off to bed at night, try undressing your partner and complimenting them. A little intimacy goes a long way.

4. Get sexting
You’ve all no doubt heard about sexting, and there’s a reason why it’s a part of modern sexual society – because it works! Why not take advantage of technology and text or email a sexual fantasy to your partner? You might like the response.

5. Prime up with wine and chocolate
Chocolate induces serotonin and phenylethylamine which, in turn, stimulates the brain’s pleasure centre. A glass of wine and some chocolates could certainly prime your lover and have them unwrapping their own goodies by the end of the night.

6. Shun the routine
Make rules in the bedroom, such as not using the same position twice in a month, nominating an alternating ‘instigator’, or scheduling a definite time for sexy times.

7. Seek help
If sexual dysfunction is a cause of problems in your relationship, take the step of seeking the assistance of a sex therapist or health professional to get your libido back on track.

8. Make a game of it
Make bets with each other about random occurrences in your daily lives, with the wager being sexual favours. It’ll create a healthy sense of competition with an even better reward!

9. Control your emotions and moods.
Take control of your moods and try not to let your frustrations get in the way of each other’s happiness. Maintaining stable moods and keeping your negative emotions in check will allow for the more positive feelings to come out. Make each other feel special, and make an effort to keep the good vibes going in your relationship. It will pay off in droves.

10. Offer each other massages
It’s the oldest trick in the book, and for good reason. Offering your partner a massage automatically eliminates one thing that stands in the way of romance – clothes! It’s also relaxing and soothing and conducive to creating intimacy. Dim the lights, spark up a nice scented candle or some incense, put on some soothing tunes and create a romantic mood – you just might find yourselves rolling around the sheets in no time.

11. Reconnect
Remind each other of the chemistry between you; recall why you got together in the first place and the reasons you fell in love. Appreciate the positive aspects of each other and remind each other of all the good bits that make your relationship so special.

Remember how it was when you first met? Well, why not recreate the experience? It worked once before, and it may be the spark that reignites the fire!

12. Watch a naughty film
Hey, there’s a reason it’s one of the world’s biggest industries, and there’s certainly no shortage of them on the internet. So why not try watching a naughty film and see where it takes you. If anything it may give you a laugh and lighten the mood, or it may get you both in an erotic frame of mind. Either way, experiment a little and see what happens.

13. Get in the mood
Prepare yourselves emotionally and psychologically. Turn off your phones. Toast to the night ahead with fine wine and dance slowly to romantic music. Kiss and cuddle for a few minutes to get into the mood. Concentrate on each other and create a relaxing environment for your impending activity. Keep it clean but be suggestive. Wear some spunky, loose clothing and make sure the bed has been made beforehand. These are all little tips that will help ease the path to lovemaking – don’t let anything get in the way.

14. First date every day
Treat each day as though it’s your first date and you will be amazed at the level of intimacy and appreciation you will have for each other. Familiarity can breed contempt but, if you love your partner, you can also use it to your advantage. Remember the special things each other likes and surprise each other with romantic gestures. Make each other feel special every day.

15. Wear red
It has been scientifically proven that men love it when women wear some shade of crimson. Reddish hues, it seems, really get the engine revving. According to a report in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology: “Men also were more likely to say they wanted to have sex with a woman and that they would be willing to spend more on a date if she were in red.”

Hey, if science says so, then it must be true! Can’t hurt to try …

16. Make each other laugh
Another scientific tip is that laughing gets your blood pumping, which, in turn, can improve your romantic response during sex. So give each other a tickle, or take in a comedy show and get the laughter flowing.

Maintaining sexual chemistry in a relationship takes some effort, but when you’re rolling around in the hay you’ll be thanking yourself for taking the time.
