Learn how to cure a cold, vanish a hangover, relieve a headache and do away with jet lag with these incredible home remedies.

Try drinking a cup of black tea with a few slices of lemon. Another excellent remedy is tea made from marjoram leaves – this is particularly good for relieving a nervous tension headache.

Curing jet lag
The UK’s leading sleep expert, Dr. Chris Idzikowski, believes that exposing yourself to either natural light or total darkness, depending on the time you arrive in a foreign country, can reset your body clock. This means no more long, arduous days of jet lag, and more importantly it means more time enjoying your holiday. British Airways has worked with Dr. Idzikowski in creating a calculator to help you work out the best way to get over your jet lag. You can use the jet lag calculator on the British Airways website for free.

The common cold
There are many home remedies for the common cold. The most famous is a bowl of chicken soup. This may not be as silly as it sounds. All the vitamins from the vegetables in chicken soup will give your immune system a boost, helping your body to fight the cold all on its own. In fact, the least effective ingredient for fighting colds in chicken soup is probably the chicken.

There are many other remedies you may wish to try. The high vitamin C content in lemons makes them fantastic for building up your immune system. Garlic is also well known for its healing properties. Garlic is particularly good for opening the respiratory passages and getting rid of the mucus associated with a cold. Ginger is another excellent remedy for colds and coughs. Try cutting some fresh ginger into small pieces and making ginger tea. A spoonful of honey will help the whole concoction to go down nicely.

Hangover cure
The best remedy is not to drink too much in the first place, but we have all been guilty of overindulging at some point. This cure is for just such occasions.
1 tablespoon honey
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup natural yoghurt
1/2 banana
Blend ingredients and drink. The natural sugars and vitamin C in this cure will speed up the oxidation of alcohol in the liver, helping to get it all out of your system, and the potassium from the banana will help to alleviate the headache.
