Medicare rebates

The Federal Government has made changes to the Medicare rebate associated with cataract surgery. How will this affect those waiting for this much-needed surgery?

Following a meeting of the Senate on 25 November 2009, complex cataract procedures were removed from the Medicare Benefits System (MBS). The Government has issued revised regulations, which ensures patients can still access cataract surgery on the MBS, although fees and rebates have changed.
