Dementia: Taking the next step

Almost 280,000 Australians currently live with dementia, with this number expected to increase to 1,000,000 by 2050. If you’re one of the many people wondering where next to turn after a dementia diagnosis, then listen to the voice of experience.

Developed by the Victorian branch of Alzheimer’s Australia, a groundbreaking film Dementia: Taking the next step, aims to help those diagnosed with dementia and their families deal with the disease. Carol Liavis who cares for her dementia sufferer father, is behind the idea for the film. It has been developed to help those feeling confronted by the diagnosis of dementia by sharing the stories of three families who have been through the experience.

The film is available free of charge and can be requested from Alzheimer’s Australia state and territory offices.
