One-minute anti-ageing tips

You don’t need fancy lotions and expensive concoctions to make you look younger. You just need to follow these five simple tips to take years off your appearance.


Loofah massage
Many people have a loofah in the shower for scrubbing those hard to reach places, but just one-minute spent massaging with a loofah can help improve lymphatic circulation. Next time you’re in the shower, put on a loofah glove and start massaging. Rub up and down on the lower body, except the knees where you should use a circular motion. A circular motion is also best used across the torso and shoulders and a vertical motion across the back. Not only will you stimulate the lymph glands, which circulate immune cells through the body, you’ll also have lovely, smooth skin. 


Vitamin supplements
Taking just one minute each day to add a few extra vitamin supplements to your diet can have real benefits, if you think about what you’re taking and why. A multivitamin is preferred by a lot of people, but what does it really improve? This quick guide may help you work out a better vitamin plan:

  • Omega-3 oil – good for helping to prevent cardiovascular disease and they may also help improve inflammatory conditions

  • Bilberry – helps maintain good eye health

  • Gingko Biloba – stimulates healthy brain function and can help with your memory and attention span

  • Garlic – as well as having garlic in your diet, garlic tablets are a powerful antioxidant and are great for detoxifying and improving the immune system

  • Hawthorn – can be used to improve the health of the heart muscle

 

Before taking any supplements, you should consult your doctor or pharmacists to ensure there is no conflict with any medication you are already taking.

Deep breathing
Taking deep breaths is a good way to take some time to gather your thoughts and of course, get more oxygen circulating around your body. Deep breathing also helps you deal with stress and nausea. Start your day by taking 10 deep breaths before you’re even out of bed in the morning. Then at least once an hour, repeat the process. You’ll not only feel better, but you’ll start to look forward to your minute of deep breathing.


Skin care
Skin can be the single most age-defining aspect of your appearance, but it’s never too late to start a skin care regime. It’s not necessary to spend a fortune on expensive creams and potions, simply use a gentle exfoliator and a gentle moisturiser for daytime and repeat before bed. Your hands are also a giveaway sign of how old you are so don’t forget to keep your nails trim and use a rich handcream.


Think before you eat
A healthy diet is what most people strive for, but it can take so much work that it becomes simply too difficult. Rather than try to solve all areas of your diet at once, take just a minute before preparing each meal to consider what you’re about to cook. Is it balanced in nutrition? Does it have too much fat, salt or sugar? Don’t try to solve all your dietary issues at once, that’s one sure way to make you throw in the towel.
