Simple health checks for 2016

The start of the New Year is the perfect time to take stock of all that’s important and there’s nothing more so than your health. Use your renewed energy to get some simple, but potentially life-saving checks done early on in the year. You’re less likely to put these health checks on the backburner as you would when the busy-ness crescendos towards the end of the year.

These are the regular tests usually recommended for most adults over 50 years:

  • blood tests for sugar and cholesterol levels
  • blood pressure
  • bone density
  • breast cancer screening (for women)
  • bowel cancer screening
  • pap test (cervical cancer screening for women)
  • prostate cancer screening (for men)
  • skin check-up to pick up melanomas.

Health checks can alert you to problems before they start, so that you can take preventative action. They can also help pick up health problems in the early stages, when your chances for treatment and cure are usually much better.

Many checks can be done together, in the same appointment. So start making appointments now, for early 2016.
