LED page magnifier
Does it seem as if they’re printing books with smaller and smaller type every year? It’s no secret that our eyesight can slip a bit as we age. You’ve probably been wearing glasses for years already, but sometimes even they are not enough. Especially at night, or if the room is a bit darker.

Page magnifiers such as the MagniPros 3X are an inexpensive way to boost your vision beyond your glasses when reading. Hold the magnifier over the page and the text is blown up three times. LED lights around the edges also provide extra light that’s soft enough not to bother other people in the room.

Recliner lift chair
Sore joints can make it difficult to get up from the couch, especially if you’ve been sitting for a while. Recliner lift chairs use an internal electronic motor to physically lift you into a standing position.

They’re not super cheap, with basic models still setting you back a few hundred dollars. And if you’re willing to splurge, you can spend thousands on luxury models.

Wireless RF item locator
Where are your keys right now? What about your phone? Keeping track of your belongings at all times can be hard at any age. Unfortunately, the ravages of time aren’t limited to just physical maladies.

Your memory, particularly your short-term memory, can also begin to fade as you get older. Brain exercises are fine as a general way to improve your memory over time, but what if you need to find your passport right now?

This is where a wireless RF item locator such as the Esky Wireless Locator comes in. The locator comes with a central control unit and a few locator tags. Attach the tags to your wallet, phone, keys or anything else you need to keep track of, and then press the tag’s corresponding button on the control unit. The locator tag will then make a sound alerting you to where the item is. Where has this thing been all our lives?

Sock slider
Simple, everyday activities such as getting dressed can become harder and harder as we age.

You probably haven’t thought about it much during life, but bending down to put socks on is one of the most physically challenging parts of getting dressed. A sock slider or sock aid is a nifty little product that lets you get your socks on without all the bending, lifting and twisting.

It works in a similar manner to a shoehorn. You slide your sock over the slider, then place the slider on the floor. From there you put your foot into the open sock, remove the slider with the attached elastic bands and your socks are on without bending at all.

Garden kneeler
Gardening is a popular pastime in retirement. And for good reason – it gets us outside and into nature, breathing fresh air. But a lot of the actual work involves bending right down to ground level, often for a long time. This can be painful not just for older people, but anyone who’s had knee or back injuries.

A garden kneeler could be the answer to your woes. Featuring adjustable padded platforms, a garden kneeler gives you a cushioned place to rest your knees when gardening. It can be set to any height needed and also doubles as a sturdy outdoor chair.
