Anyone who had a heart…

Anyone who had a heart would undoubtedly have sung along to the songs of Burt Bacharach. Now, Burt opens up about those songs, relationships and regrets.

As a young man Burt Bacharach used to sneak into jazz clubs in Manhattan, where he fell in love with music while watching the legendary Dizzy Gillespie. After his tour of duty in the army during the Korean War, the prolific songwriter wrote a string of hits, many of which we still enjoy today.

The list of stars he has worked with is endless, but who could forget Dusty Springfield’s deep melodious voice singing The look of love, or Cilla Black belting out Alfie. While the hits were easy enough to come by, true happiness in relationships eluded him.

Anyone who had a heart is the tale of a hugely successful man, told in his own words. Those close to him pop in and out of the book to tell their stories and this results in an incredibly chatty memoir. He tells the stories behind the hits which we have grown up with and which have inspired songwriters for decades. Even Noel Gallagher from Oasis pops up from time to time.

Grab a CD of Burt’s songs and sing along while you read.
