Rachel and Drew disagree over the new James Bond film Skyfall
After rave reviews, I booked my friend and I in to see Skyfall in Gold Class. This is a rare treat reserved only for films which I have been highly anticipating or those with very positive reviews (which Skyfall had received). Sadly, there were more holes in the plot than bullets fired in the film. Plot holes aside, if you are looking for a mindless high action, high violence thriller with quality camera work and reasonable acting, Skyfall is a must see.
I’m a James Bond fan, but rather than giving me a soft-spot for the movies I think this makes me more critical of each new one as it comes out. The last James Bond film, Quantum of Solace (what does that name even mean?), left me cold. Skyfall, however, was brilliant. Unlike Drew, I think it may even be the best James Bond film I have ever seen. The bad guy isn’t too complicated, the new Q is a great piece of casting and it gives the viewer a look at where James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, came from. The movie is actually about Bond’s relationship with M, Judi Dench, a character who normally gets very little screen time, which makes the plot of Skyfall all the more fascinating. I put it on my highly recommended list, with four-and-three-quarter stars.
