Shopwatch

There’s a lot going on in the retail world at the moment. However, you’d be forgiven for not knowing what’s coming your way. Rather than letting them fly under the radar, this week I thought we’d do something a little different for Stylewatch and turn our watch to the shops instead. Here are two new ones to keep on your radar.

Zara Home

Yep, you guessed it, the popular fashion label Zara also has a homewares brand. Having announced it will be opening two stores in Australia, Zara has chosen Melbourne and Sydney as its bases for the Spanish brand’s latest offering.

Set to open yesterday, 12 February, the first Australian store is located at Melbourne’s Highpoint Shopping Centre. Occupying 310 square metres of space, the store’s range will include the full Zara Home collection of furniture, tableware and decorative items as well as bedding, table and bath linens. The Zara Kids range will also be stocked as part of the store’s offering.

Sydneysiders, your Zara Home flagship store is said to be coming later in the year, but if you can’t wait, it’s only a short flight to Melbourne. A word of warning, though: the flight down may be relatively cheap, but the same may not be said for your excess baggage on the way back!

Seed Collection

Well known for its more-interesting-than-average basics, and very reasonable price points, Seed has taken Australia by storm since it opened in 2000. Providing collections for women and children, its latest offering has literally sprung up overnight.

Called ‘Collection’, the range encapsulates beautiful basics and more special pieces from the womenswear label. Think well-cut pants, crepe-knit skirts, and simple tees and singlets spiced with different detailing.

The colour palette is predominantly black, white and nude; however, accents of khaki and animal print break up the otherwise neutral tones. Collection has a minimalistic and structured feel, and while the price point is slightly higher than the rest of the women’s wear range (about $50-$200), the pieces look and feel expensive.

With a dedicated store at Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne and one set to open in Sydney, Seed also stocks pieces from the Collection range at some of the main stores in both states and online.

Seed Collection is well worth checking out, particularly if you’re after work-appropriate pieces that you can still wear outside the office.

You can view Collection by Seed on its website.
