Are these the best photos in the world?

The world’s biggest photography competition is back.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Sony World Photography Awards is showcasing some of the best shots captured from photographers of all levels. With four competition subsets: Professional, Open, Youth and Student Focus, each with their own categories, anyone with a camera is welcome to enter.

With the total number of entries surpassing one million last year, a curated selection of the winning, shortlisted and commended images are displayed at the Exhibition held at Somerset House in London each spring.

And, while you may not be as lucky as I am to be able to go in person, thankfully, you can still enjoy the shortlisted and commended images below.
