Three best sexual positions for weight loss

Font Size:

It’s probably not surprising that sex burns calories, after all, it is a form of exercise. But as with all exercise, some ‘moves’ will help you lose more weight than others.

“Okay,” I can hear you say. “If sex is so great for losing weight, then what am I doing all this walking for?”

Well, it’s safe to say that, if you work up a sweat and your heart rate sufficiently during sex, then you’re probably getting a decent workout. But, could you be maximising your output?

According to The Great British Sexpert, Rebecca Dakin, the following three positions have the most potential for weight-loss and, the good news is, they’re not too strenuous. So, you, me and anyone at any age can get it on and get it off at the same time (pun intended!).

Depending on the nature of your sexual relationship, one partner may do a bit more work than the other during sexy times. Suffice to say, that you reap what you sow, so both of you must do the hard yards if you want to gain the most benefit from these three positions.

Missionary position
This one shouldn’t be too tough to master. The trick is for the woman to thrust up as the man thrusts down, rather than relying on him to do all the work. That way, you’ll be both exercise your glutes, your lower thighs and your core muscles.

Doggy style
The aptly named doggy style position is usually not as physically demanding as other sex positions, and is great if either partner has back issues. Again, if both of you thrust at the same time it will have excellent benefits for your core muscles and will help reduce your waistline and stomach.

Cowgirl
This one is, perhaps, the most effective of the three. The only problem is that, because this position feels so good, the fellas are usually lucky to go for very long.

Riding in the cowgirl position is great for your core, thighs and glutes and, if you do manage to go for a while, it’s a top cardio exercise too.

Oh, and I should mention: although weight loss is the focus of this article, your focus should always be about having fun, loving each other and enjoying the time you have together.

How does the idea of weight-loss during sex appeal to you? Is it better than the thought of going on a diet?
