Yesterday on Mornings with Neil Mitchell on the 3AW radio network the issue of plates for older drivers was raised. This was after a ‘Senior Citizen Mark’ licence plate, currently being used in Japan, was sent in to the program.
The ‘Senior Citizen Mark’ is optional for drivers between the ages of 70-75 and compulsory for those over the age of 75 and was implemented so that would show more consideration and care to the older driver.
Current statistics (see video above) suggest that older drivers are involved in no more incidents on the roads than their inexperienced counterparts.
Do you believe that ‘Seniors Plates’ could be a good idea or are they an insult to the driver?
